Get Your White Back!

I myself love white clothes/shoes. However because of my lack of care and the colour's vulnerability to get easily stained most of my clothes and shoes are marked up with stains and other sorts of marks. Of course I was choked and I thought I couldn't do anything about it until I saw a post in Pinterest. I don't specifically remember where I saw it from but I'm here to show you lovelies on how to get your white colour back on your clothes, shoes, bags and even your teeth.

-your item of choice that you want to clean (in this case I grabbed my Nike Free Run 1.0).
-baking soda
-hydrogen peroxide
-a mini towel
-tooth brush or cloth if you prefer
-a container to mix the hydrogen and baking soda together

Pour the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in the container.
You want to have a 2:1 ratio of baking soda to hydrogen peroxide only because to get that pasty-like texture.
Once you get the pasty/thick enough texture go ahead and start scrubbing/brushing!

I chose my Nike Free Runs because they are the dirtiest thing I own for a pair of shoes.
Not even my white converse or my keds are dirty(AND THEY'RE ALL WHITE).
Be patient with cleaning, it does take a while but this is the safest way to clean your shoes/clothes.
You don't want to throw your shoes in the washing machine because the machine will damage your shoes and stretch it out. Basically it won't be the same.
I know some people say use bleach but that is a no no! Bleach is a very strong chemical which can burn your skin if not handled with care. If you're clumsy like me then hydrogen peroxide and baking soda is the way to go. (yes hydrogen peroxide can cause some skin irritation such as dermatitis but that's only if you use it too much[like everyday]).
The antiseptic property of hydrogen peroxide makes a good cleaning agent that reacts well with the sodium bicarbonate(aka Baking Soda!)

Here are the final results!
I wished I took a before and after but the first picture you can tell the stains are gone!
After I scrubbed them clean I took a cloth and soaked it in hot water with anti-bacterial soap then wiped down my Nike Free Runs to get rid of excess baking powder and to get rid of some germs/tough grease marks.

Here are the close up for my shoes.
I took these pictures outside on my balcony just so I have better lighting since my camera doesn't have great quality!

For clothes: Let's be real people we all have that one shirt with yellow stains at the armpit before we knew we could prevent that. I own a few shirts back in the day that have stains in the armpit area and I found it so annoying because I could never wear them again. Bet you didn't know there was a way to remove it! Basically what you do is make the same mixture: Baking Soda + Hydrogen Peroxide with a little bit of water. Grab a big hand brush like:
(Bad quality, I tried to find a better one! THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE).
After you're done scrubbing the hell out of that armpit area soak it in water then AIR DRY! After that you have your favourite white tee back!
(you can use this method on your bags/bottoms!)

For teeth: Who doesn't want white pearly teeth? I'm sure everyone wants them but doesn't have the money to splurge on those expensive whitening teeth pens or the Crest 3D whitening trio products! Well now you don't have to splurge because you can whiten your teeth with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda! What you will need to do is get a small container and add your favourite minty toothpaste, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Mix well so that the consistency is like a tooth paste and brush your teeth!
You can also purchase those mouth guards and put the paste in their and set it in your teeth! Whatever works best for you!
-Mouth guards: ~$4
-Hydrogen Peroxide Full Bottle: ~$8
-Baking Soda: ~$1
Crest 3D Whitening Trio Pack(tooth paste, mouth wash, whitening strips: $100+)
Save your money people! Spend it on better things ;)!
[Although I can't say I don't have these products, they work well too!]

For nails: If you enjoy getting your nails done and you do it more than twice a month then you will start to notice your nails going yellow. It's because of the chemicals from the nail polish and nail polish remover eating away at your nails. A simple way to brighten those yellow tip nails is make the paste like mixture and apply a good amount of the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda on the tip of your nails or all over your nail depending which part is yellow. (Make sure you're covering it!)

I hope you all enjoyed this tip!
Let me know if you lovelies know other ways to whiten or your experiences with using this method!
(next post: nail care!)
Later Days lovelies.

Time for a Change - Erica James

Something that I'm getting back into is reading! I used to be a reader back in high school only because they had this program called Accelerated Reader where everyone in the school has to meet a minimum of points and it's worth 8% of your English mark. Ever since then I've been reading books from left to right. After I graduated I became lazy to pick up a good novel with a cup of tea and just read. However I just got back from my road trip and I brought two books with me. I finished one and I'm on my second one where I'm halfway through it.

The first book that I finished is called:
Time for a Change by Erica James
The book is pretty beaten up and that's only because I got it at a Second Hand Book Store!
I love going to those Second Hand Book Store because they sell novels that are usually $20-30 for 99 cents.

Time for a Change is about a woman name Hilary who discovers a secret about her husband: David that can ruin her marriage. She finds out that her husband is having an affair and doesn't know what to do. Turning to her friends and family for advice they give her two options
1)Ignore it
2)Confront it.
The novel follows Hilary on her dreadful journey keeping this horrible secret just to save her marriage.

What I really liked about this novel was the whole cheating aspect and Hilary ignoring it. I don't know why but I'm kind of a fan of cheating movies/books ONLY because I want to see how they act and how they will get their justice and respect back from their spouse/partner.
Some things I didn't enjoy about this book was that it kept jumping characters. In one chapter it would be about Hilary and the next chapter it would be about a different character(e.g Cindy[the neighbour she confided in who shares the same fate that Hilary is going through]). I also didn't appreciate the ending of the novel. I thought it was pretty random on what happened between the characters and some events in the novel weren't really necessary. In fact I thought they were totally irrelevant to the plot.

I had heard good things about Erica James and I know this isn't one of her best books but I don't regret reading it because in fact it was interesting on how Erica portrayed Hilary. It's not a common thing that any person would just turn a blind eye on their cheating partner.

Out of 5 I give it 2.5/5!

Let me know if any of you guys read this book or read any other books from Erica James!

Ah yes you read the title right. A make up tag... YAY!! I love doing these types of questions and I was tagged in one of these tags by the beautiful, rad and awesome Kathleen aka pastel-mermaid. You guys definitely need to check her out. Why? Because she has great tips, insights, awesome photos and a great sense of fashion!
Now let's get to these questions shall we?

  1. How old were you when you started wearing make up?
I think I officially started wearing make up in grade 9 because that was when I started using liquid eyeliner, mascara and eyeliner!
  2. How did you get into make up?
As sad as this sounds I wanted to impress this guy I liked and I thought he would notice me if I started wearing eyeliner and what not. (HE DIDN'T BTW, that just shows you shouldn't change yourself just to get someone's attention. Be yourself, be you❤)
  3. What are some of your favourite brands?
Drug store brands: Maybelline, Rimmel London & E.L.F
High end: Make Up Forever, MAC & Urban Decay
  4. What does make up mean to you?
As Kathleen pointed out on her blog: it is definitely an enhancer. Make up is to enhance your beauty. Oh and I kind of find it very therapeutic because it relaxes me? (If that makes sense...)
  5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
    -Face Powder/Settling Powder
    -Eyebrow Pencil
(as of now these are the only products I'm using since it's summer and I sweat a lot so my make up goes down with the sweat [I know gross]).
  6. What is your favourite thing about make up?
It makes me feel very girly and I like that. Oh and it's very calming? I don't know I'm really weird.
  7. What do you think of drugstore make up vs. high end make up?
Just as long as I get my money's worth on either make up then I'm happy. I mean it would be nice if the drugstore would have the quality of the high end but whatever.
  8. What is one tip you can give to a beginner
    TRY EVERYTHING!!! Just kidding!
Read reviews, watch YouTube videos and ask questions to your friends/family/make up professionals when you go shopping.
OH if you're filling in your eyebrows make the inner eyebrow closer to the nose light so your face doesn't look too harsh(UNLESS YOU'RE GOING FOR THAT THEN FILL IT IN TO THE MAX).
  9. What is one make up trend you never understood
Colourful eyeshadows. I'm sorry if you wear colourful eyeshadows but I never really understood them. Yeah they look awesome on people who can pull it off (especially those models who are modelling "unique" dresses) but I never understood it. It's like someone grabbed a marker or paint and smeared it on their eyelids or something. (I guess cause I can never rock those colours?)
  10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube
To be honest YouTube was one of the reasons why I started to talk about makeup and fashion on this blog. Before I would blog about my life and stuff but watching people give their insight and all that made me want to do it too. So mercibeacoup/arigatou/xie xie/salamat to all them beauty bloggers/YouTubers/whatever y'all are

Whew I'm done!
Hope you all enjoyed reading my paragraphs hehe
I shall tag...
